Set in a future Earth (2035 A.D.) where robots are common assistants and workers for their human owners, this is the story of 'robotophobic' Chicago Police Detective Del Spooner's (Smith) investigation into the murder of Dr. Alfred Lanning (James Cromwell), who works at U.S. Robotics, in which a robot, Sonny (Tudyk), appears to be implicated, even though that would mean the robot had violated the Three Laws of Robotics, which is apparently impossible. It seems impossible because.. if robots can break those laws, there's nothing to stop them from taking over the world, as humans have grown to become completely dependent upon their robots. Or maybe... they already have? Aiding Spooner in his investigation is a psychologist, Dr. Susan Calvin (Moynahan), who specializes in the psyches of robots.

This was so disappointing. I thought the I, Robot Action was really inspired by tales of Asimov ... quite the opposite, actually. As others have noted, this is a disgrace to Asimov masterpiece. The end is so predictable and irrelevant. Hand, many argue that such a situation would have been considered by the engineer robots. Nothing new to the trivial slogan "Humanity is the worst threat to its own security." The book is much more subtle in the psychology of the robots and their interaction with humans. Suspiro to my friend and not waste time if you're a true fan of SF. Another point, this DVD movie I, Robot was very very wrong, if judged only by the suits. And totally out of fashion! Well, of course, was not a complete failure. 5 stars for the usual well-oiled machine of Hollywood. Consider reading the book and to the true development of literature and DivX Movie I, Robot SF (even beyond Asimov).

I just saw this DivX Movie I, Robot on DVD last night and decided to leave the exams this morning. It seems that "I, Robot" has polarized the critical viewing of the community here in IMDb (and led to a lot of insults and name calling, too.) I find it somewhat surprising, because this DivX film I, Robot is not great (or even good), but neither is terrible (or even very bad). What this film: I, Robot is really depressing is .... Depressing that the U.S. movie-goer population is so ready for the return to dull, cliché re-heated, and the spectacular success as new works. This film: I, Robot as a "retread" any document which, from the plot (an uncomfortable mix of Asimov and now uber-share) for the character of Smith (a cynical smart mouth with a backbone of titanium) for the purpose special (which borrowed from the matrix and some others). "I, Robot" is, unfortunately, quite possibly the perfect action I, Robot Action movie for the day of the hearing: superficial plot, insipidly Snappy dialogue, and lots and lots of adrenaline. Smith is mediocre, but I knew that (Hollywood seems to miss the last attempt to create a black Bruce Willis). The story has many holes in it, of all sizes, but I do not think most people are drawn to this DVD movie I, Robot minded critical enough to notice. Perhaps a success by the standards of today, but B-movie in comparison to the real winners.

Spoilers here. Some day, probably soon, we will be openly offended - uprising - when the special effects are used for more multidimensional weaknesses. Some day, probably far, I refuse to see the famous assault on the place of the actors. One day we will have more stories than that. With all due respect, although this movie: I, Robot has little to do with Asimov, Asimov stories were not very well developed, or even intelligent. And this DVD film I, Robot has two fakeouts, first then Sonny Robertson. But it remains mechanic. And we can never escape the notion of rogue Hal? (And the girl scientist?) Philip K Dick had the best one of these, I think, in VALIS. The idea could be smart, as in 'Forbidden Planet', where the "brain" literally creates memories and reality.
